OldYTPlayer | YouTube Old Player UI Pre-2025 & Minimal Tweaks

Removes YouTube’s new “Delhi” player experiment flags to restore the old video player UI. In English, this userscript brings back the Youtube UI we all know and love. This was developed due to many users like myself wanting a free method to get rid of the new video player change Youtube has forced on us. This userscript also comes with Return Youtube Dislike, Skip Sponsored Segments via Sponsorblock & many tweaks, all of which are toggleable.

Review: OK - script works, but has bugs

I tried using this script and it caused YouTube videos to play, but I could not access the video player settings at all, and could not move the webpage (scroll/or click anything) and when I went to close the tab it would not let me due to it making the browser unresponsive. This script has potential, but once that bug is fixed I will gladly change my review.

Update: if I disable the extensions I use, and then use it, it does indeed work without lagging the browser, but this shouldn't be a problem. Another problem is though, for some reason it lowers the quality of the videos I watch, and it does NOT restore the old dislike and like button that was on YouTube, it instead replaces it with some custom button icon. This script is okay, but definitely needs a rework.

Hi there, OYTP shouldn't cause an unresponsive browser, as it is a lightweight userscript. If your browser starts being unresponsive, check your other extensions for the root of the issue.

As for your problem with lowered Youtube video quality, that is simply not possible to be done by OYTP as there is no code for lowering Youtube's quality in any way, you can check the code for yourself to verify this. Since this issue happens on a network level, I would try checking your network connection and try clicking the highest Quality on the youtube settings menu.

About your issue with the classic dislike / like feature, this feature restores the classic (Pre- 2016) thumbs on videos and comments. It is in fact the old Youtube thumb icon and not a custom one (if you were around for the era, I'm sure you would recognize them). I've attached an image of what the classic thumbs used to look like, which is what OYTP uses. While I'll be happy to add the newer (but still old) thumbs, I'll need a contributor to give me a .png or image file of the newer Youtube thumbs and their pressed state.

If you find my responses or my script helpful in any way, I would appreciate a good feedback change, thanks for using my script! 💗
