Does YouTube just.. does not work? Tried with different videos and YouTube pages.

Yes. You are correct.

It appears that they managed to block that script.

However, if you hover a hyperlink to that site, the script should change the link of it to another instance.

Yeah, hovering over it seems to work fine. But will there be a fix? Can't hover on links from other apps, after all.

I apologise for lingering.

But will there be a fix?

Perhaps we should set an interbal which periodically checks the current hostname.

What do you think?

"Periodically" means there will be delay, no? It kinds of defeats the purpose if YouTube could already track me during that short time gap.

Is there a reason it can't be done immediately upon visit like the way it redirects Reddit and other platforms?

In any case, I don't have any coding experience, so I support you with any changes that you see fit. ⭐

But I did managed to solve my "Link in other apps" problem by using URLCheck app 'pattern checker' module, kind of like UntrackMe. Using one instance is enough for me most of the time.

I might want to use this as a mean to mitigate this issue.

let startTime = new Date().getTime();
while (true) {
    let currentTime = new Date().getTime();
    if (currentTime - startTime > 15000) {
        // Perform your task here
        console.log("Loop running");
        startTime += 15000;
    } else {
        setTimeout(function() {}, 15000);
    }
}

I intended to spend time on it during Friday, yet, I was distracted by this report.

Hello again. And well, sorry to disappoint, but it still doesn't redirect like at all on YouTube for me. I confirmed Invidious is set to true

May you please check the console for messages that concern to "proxy Redirect"?

§

Unfortunately, there is no dev console on mobile Firefox. But I think I see the issue:

No redirection on mobile YouTube subdomain m.youtube.com.

Switching to desktop mode, the domain changes to the usual youtube.com and you get the redirection. Simple.

Also, I got redirected to this broken instance, just a heads up: https://poketube.fun/watch?v=NYNBAxDfgrY I got 502

I suppose, that it be fine to redirect from m.hostname.i2p to hostname.i2p; would it?

I should sort the list of instances.

Would you want to care for that task?

§

Yeah, sorry, probably not. I don't own a computer to like run scripts to check if an instance is up. Plus, I probably won't know what I'm doing.

Fine.

Please. Answer to this question.

You're saying to make the script redirect from m.youtube.com to the standard youtube.com?

I don't think that's possible natively, as YouTube will try to redirect back to m.youtube.com before the script can execute on youtube.com

And to try that, I asked AI to write a quick script from m.youtube.comyoutube.comyewtube.com (Invidious)

The script was not successful: https://notebin.de/?2d87c9be486300fd#2P9VhUXvuPtTuMQBcznH8uGARkhxufHA3iF5gs5Gc3TN

Yes. That is what I meant. I am not fond of writing thta hostname because I do not want t opromote it.

I advise to utilize your own LLM machine. This commercial LLM machines are deliberately provide falsified results when asked for technologies, that those who are responsible to it are not interested to promote.

I will add support for that domain that you mentioned also.

Understandable. 🫡 I also found myself using that video platform less and less lately for other reason.

Yeah, it was for testing only, but I appreciate the advice.

Anyway, the script is working correctly now 👍 Thank you for all your time and effort, and for creating this script.

You are most welcome.

The more privacy more of us to have, the better.

As you may have noticed, the XHTML message which occupied the who view was removed in favour of a confirmation notification.

The reason is to increase privacy, because intervention with HTML (i.e. "DOM") could be utilized by servers to detect that this specific software is utilized, and by that to better create a unique identity. I am not interested at that.

As you probably know, there is a controller bar at the bottom of every supported service, and I would be glad to redesign it, or to replace it by native Greasemonkey and ECMAScript (i.e. JS) controllers.

Do you have an advise, perhaps?

Finally, would you be interested to maintain the list of instances?

I can provide you with automated scripts to do that task, and I would appreciate your help.
